As starting social urban engineer, Merel believes that the city of tomorrow can not be created by planners, engineers and architects alone. The complex urban challenges of today demand smart and interdisciplinary solutions which, in her opinion, can only be developed in collaboration with citizens, research and industry. She, therefore, strives to build bridges between these important stakeholders through co-creation.
